The Classic Fairytale Company was born out of Dionysia Productions (established in 1980 to introduce young people to Shakespeare) when we realised there was a need for high quality children’s theatre that explores archetypal stories rather than everyday issues.

We believe that theatre for children should have the same high standards as theatre for adults and that it should give space for the audience to use their imaginations to create fantastic, magical, enchanting worlds.

We choose stories passed down through many generations which have strong characters and images; stories that transcend culture, and have timeless messages from which we can all learn.

In a visual age of television and computers, we aim to inspire children and adult audiences to develop an internal sight.  We take them on a journey into a world which belongs to a story, into an unforgettable atmosphere that can change dimension, shape, location and time in the twinkling of an eye, the turn of a head.  

Dionysia Productions was founded by Graham Dixon and The Classic Fairytale Company was founded by Ian Bevins and Graham Dixon.
